Step by step guide to Haricare


Haricare is a directory of organisations helping adults who need care and support in Haringey. This might be because you have a disability, a long term illness, or are elderly. We include free services, and products or services you will pay for, either using your own money or a direct payment for social care from Haringey Council

In this guide and in Haricare the use of the word "services" means types of assistance. Examples are domiciliary care, supported housing, care homes and occupational therapy.

In contrast the word "product" is a piece of equipment or other item such as

  • Mobility
  • Sensory Aids

  • Toileting Aids

Step 1

Use the 'Find Support' to find what you are looking for. When you click onto a category you will find a list of everything in that category. Or you can type in what you are looking for.

You can use the more options on the left of the page to filter the results.

If you put in your post code in the box on the left and change the Within drop down to 1 mile, this will help you to find only the services that are in your area.

You do not have to register or 'sign-in' to find what services or products are available.

Step 2

If you are happy with the service or product you have found and wish to purchase it via the site, you will need to be register on the website. This will mean that the next time you use the website you will only need to give your chosen 'user name' and 'password'.

Step 3

Before you decide whether or not to buy a service, you can ask for a callback, the provider will phone you to talk about what you need in more detail. You can also ask click on the 'request a quote' button, you can write a message describing what you need and the provider will reply to you with a quotation. You will be asked to enter your email address.

Step 4

Once you are happy, you can buy the service or product through Haricare. Just follow the instructions as you go along.

Step 5

After you have received the service or product, you will be asked if you would like to give some comments about it. You can do this without giving any details about yourself.

If you are unhappy about the service or product you can always talk to the service provider about this or you can make a complaint. The provider will tell you how to do this.
