RNRU Outreach
We provide specialised rehabilitation for adults of working age after single incident neurological events other than complete spinal injury. The majority of our patients have suffered vascular or traumatic brain injuries as a result of head injury, stroke, subarachnoid haemorrhage or other forms of focal or diffuse brain injury resulting, for example, from certain infections or cardio-respiratory arrest.
We also admit a small number of patients who have been diagnosed with other single incident conditions requiring multi-disciplinary rehabilitation such as Guillian-Barré syndrome or certain brain infections.
Patients are usually referred from acute beds in neurosurgical/neurology units, or district general hospitals.
