Organisation type: Voluntary or Community Sector
We are a community of runners that combine getting fit with doing good. We stop off on our runs to do physical tasks for community organisations and to support isolated older people with social visits and one-off tasks they can't do on their own. It's a great way to get fit, meet new people and do some good. As long as you're up for getting sweaty, everyone's welcome.
Many GoodGym runners are paired with isolated older people and they run to see them each week for a quick neighbourly visit. We call the older people our runners visit coaches because they help motivate our runners to run and they share their wisdom with them. It's amazing what you can learn from your coach. Coach runs can be fit around your schedule and don’t need to take up more than 20 minutes of your time per week.
We run to help out older people with one-off practical tasks that they are no longer able to do on their own. Missions give us a reason to run different routes and make a big impact on someone's life too; do get in touch if you would like to make a referral for a task.
